Meet Chrissie Ager - Meath impresario!

Ask any of our residents what is top of their list in the Meath Day Centre and many will say being part of  Chrissie Ager’s fantastic theatre workshops. Her colourful and lively productions provide a creative outlet through drama, art, music and performance. They have become the stuff of Meath legend. Last year the highlight was ‘Aladdin in August’. A stupendous production involving almost half our residents with staff members, relatives and friends all eager to tread the boards. “Inclusion and enjoyment are as important as the eventual outcome” says Chrissie who danced and performed regularly from a young age. Before joining the Meath, she trained in Art and Design, jointly ran an interior design practice and completed teacher training with Margaret Morris Movement.

Children, young adults and seniors with physical and learning difficulties have all been encouraged to explore self-expression and develop their communication skills, confidence and self esteem through her classes and workshops. This year Chrissie worked on a showcase for National Epilepsy Week entitled ‘Personal View’ – expressions of emotions and feelings about life with epilepsy through creative writing and imagery, mime and masks and an art installation. Shakespeare is being introduced for those who are keen and for the more light hearted, a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ summertime production destined to become another classic – ‘Meatha Mia’! Come dressed and prepared to join in!
