Current projects
The Meath receives its basic running costs from statutory sources but this income does not cover a range of ongoing, significant capital needs that make all the difference to a resident’s quality of life.
We are currently running a multi phase development programme for our residential facilities.
The Story so Far….
The Meath is centred around a glorious Grade II listed house, set in beautiful grounds. Nearly 400 years old, the main house was not designed as a care home and cannot meet fully the needs of a group of people with multiple disabilities. Some of the bedrooms are too small, none had en suite facilities at the start of the development programme and several residents are forced to share double bedrooms. All these historical problems need to be addressed.
We started our refurbishment programme in 2004, when we opened Jeffrey Court, providing homely, en suite accommodation for eight people who need a high level of support. The building cost more than £800,000 and the Meath successfully raised the funds.
We have now completed our second phase, at a cost of around £1.4 million. The Bradbury Wing and Reception provides 11 spacious bedrooms with en suite facilities – vital to providing comfort, space and dignity for people who have multiple disabilities.
We are currently upgrading some self contained flats on site, that will enable residents to develop independent living skills.
The Future
The Meath has ambitious plans to continue developing its facilities until every room offers the level of space and comfort we all expect from our homes. Our next project is likely to be a brand new unit for people who have a range of needs. We will provide more information about phase four in the future.
Other projects
The Arthouse
The Arthouse needs funding for a range of project costs, including new materials and the costs of participating in exhibitions. Visit www.the-arthouse.co.uk for more information or call 01483 425079
Residents' 'extras'
We also fundraise to pay for 'extras' that can make all the difference to residents. Funds raised could be used to pay for outings and activities, games or equipment.
