25th Anniversary Lecture on the ascent of Mount Kongur July 12 1981.
7.15pm Thursday 16th November 2006
The Royal Geographical Society, Exhibition Road, London SW7
With Sir Chris Bonington and the Mount Kongur team.

Sir Chris Bonington summed up this expedition with these words “Looking back almost 20 years, fortune was kind to us on Kongur. We took as many liberties as I have ever taken on any mountain I have attempted. I don’t think I have ever been so isolated as we were on that summit, with its steep final pyramid, the fragile ridge back down. There was no room for error”.

You have the chance to re-live those moments with Chris and the 1981 team sharing their experience of exploration and science at high altitude. Tickets are £15 each for the lecture only or £40 to include a wine reception. Please contact Helen Mather on 01483 425438 for application forms. The proceeds of the evening will be shared by the Meath and The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability.
