At The Meath

Having a job to go to is an important part of the rehabilitation processs. We find that our residents really benefit from the socialising and sense of worth that comes from regular work. We enjoy good relationships with local employers and also provide a variety of work opportunites within the Meath complex.

Philippa Philippa

26 year old Philippa has been at the Meath since 2004.  She works in our main laundry collecting clean items and delivery them to the appropriate units. We asked Philippa what she likes about her job and her reply was simple and direct. “I want to get money and save it,” she said! Admirable sentiments, Philippa!

Jonathan Jonathan

45 year old Jonathan is paid for working one day a week in our day centre where he answers the phone and takes messages. He has been at the Meath since 2002. “It’s a bit of normality, meeting people from the community,” says Jonathan. “It’s something to get up in the morning for.”

Ian Ian

Ian is 60 years old and has been at the Meath since 2006. He works in the Meath grounds two days a week picking up litter and watering trees and bushes that we have in containers. “I like to keep the place tidy and respectable in case we get any visitors,” says Ian “…and I like being in the fresh air.”
